Srinagar, Oct 15 (KNO): Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, Tuesday laid the foundation stone of Masjid Usman (RA) at Usman Colony, Hawal, Srinagar, amid a warm and heartfelt welcome by the men and women of the locality.
Addressing the gathering, Mirwaiz, as per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that building mosques is among the most virtuous acts in Islam, as they are not only places of worship but also centres of learning, guidance, and unity.
He emphasized that along with mosques, it is vital to establish Maktabs—Qur’an learning centres for children—so that the younger generation remains connected to the Book of Allah and grows up with moral and spiritual values.
Mirwaiz said that mosques must serve as the heart of the community, fostering compassion, brotherhood and social responsibility.
He urged people to maintain the cleanliness, sanctity, and transparency of all community initiatives and to work together for both religious and social betterment—(KNO)
